Alyssa Reece
Inside After Eden
A closer look at the Vancouver production that gave Alyssa Reece her first leading role in a feature film.
Eve and Adam
After Eden follows Eve, an adult-film performer, and Adam, a university student whose fascination with her leads him to follow her outside the screen. Reece plays Eve opposite Cameron Crosby as Adam. Their encounter drives a story about observation, distance and the boundary between a public image and a private life.
These are dramatic roles rather than a record of the actors’ lives. Eve’s circumstances and Adam’s behaviour belong to the screenplay. Reece’s professional background informed the casting, but the character’s narrative should not be read as the actress’s personal history.
Made in Vancouver
Hans Christian Berger wrote and directed the film, his first feature. The production was filmed on location in Vancouver and runs eighty minutes. Its technical specifications list colour photography, a 1.85 aspect ratio and 5.1 surround sound, with Red Epic and Sony EX1 cameras used for filming.
The film brought together two actors with connections to Vancouver’s independent scene. Reece’s cast biography records theatre and short-film experience, while Crosby’s includes independent film, television and theatre. The city was both their professional setting and the location in which this feature took shape.
The festival chapter
The world premiere took place in September 2015 in the New Directors competition at the 63rd San Sebastián International Film Festival. That selection placed Berger’s debut within a programme devoted to emerging feature filmmakers and introduced Reece’s leading performance to an international festival audience.
The film later appeared in the No Limit section of the 2016 Transilvania International Film Festival. Its festival history offers a separate chapter in Reece’s screen career, alongside her commercial studio work and independent production. Participation in these programmes is a selection credit, not a claim that she won an acting award.
